Slurring vocals and musical arrangements that try too hard to be quirky does not make for good times. Which is why I'm pleasantly surprised with <a href="http://www.myspace.com/aeroplanepageant">Aeroplane Pageant</a>'s debut album, <span style="font-style: italic;">Wave to the Moon</span>. A bit of Modest Mouse here and a smidgen of <a href="http://www.builttospill.com/">Built to Spill</a> there, and they've created a solid pop album that's altogether quirky in its own right. In fact, I don't even think it's fair to compare Modest Mouse to these guys after the half-assed insult of an album they released this year.
